Rare Spec started the way most good things do — a group of people who couldn't stop talking about cars.
Not the spec sheets. The feeling. A flat-six catching on a cold Auckland morning. The badge you only see once a year, on a back road, going the other way. The particular silence after someone's just walked past something rare and you're the only one who clocked it.
We kept looking for something to wear that got it — and kept finding the same two options. Cheap fan merch with a car photo slapped on it, or a plain logo tee at a price that had nothing to do with the shirt.
So we built the one we wanted to own.
240gsm heavyweight organic combed cotton. A relaxed unisex cut with a slight drop shoulder that holds its shape rather than collapsing after three washes. A large back print with the car rendered properly and the specification laid out underneath, the way a good poster does it. A small RS mark on the chest for everyone else.
Every design runs in a short, limited batch. When a spec sells out it usually stays out — we'd rather make the next one than reprint the last one.
